Child’s Play 3
I don’t know if it’s just my taste is changing or if it has to do with me getting older but I’m finding with my re-watches, movies that I didn’t like before I’m starting to like at least a little bit more. Case in point, Child’s Play 3. I didn’t really like it when it came out, but now I find it decent.

With Child’s Play 3 we get 7 kills (again, 8 if you count Chucky’s grisly death). We have a couple of good kills. The very first kill is good (only because it’s the evil owner of the Good Guy dolls and he deserves the karma he gets). This is the only kill that I think Chucky doesn’t actually kill. He jumps out at Colonel Cochrane (Dakin Matthews) and before he can stab him, the Colonel has a heart attack.
I have to mention the war games scenes. I think it was really tense and scary as a viewer, knowing that the red team had live ammo and they didn’t even know it. I was surprised the director got away with it, but then again, only one person was shot.
The acting is actually not bad. Not as good, and not as well known actors for it. But decent. Brad Dourif is amazing as always as Chucky. I can’t imagine Chucky being anyone other than Brad Dourif. Justin Whalin as a teen Andy was ok. I swear he looks just like Wil Wheaton though. Andrew Robinson (known for Hellraiser, Pumpkinhead II, and Trancers III) plays the creepy barber. Way too into cutting people's hair.

Poor Andy has been through a lot. Now he’s about 16 in a military academy. He has to deal with Cadets who are on power kicks who like to pick on the weaker kids. But that’s fine until Chucky show’s up and starts killing people there. Andy tries to warn young Tyler, but Chucky has him brainwashed. This time more people will see Chucky, though most will end up dying. Unfortunately we don’t hear what happened to him and Kyle after the previous movie.
I do like the opening sequence in the movie. Where they are scraping up the melted plastic and somehow the pile of plastic is bleeding and gets into a new batch of plastic. It’s not as good as the opening sequence of Child’s Play 2 but it’s pretty decent.
Now for “Did you know…” section:
Under pressure from Universal, screenwriter Don Mancini was asked to begin writing the third film even before the second film was released. Mancini has called it his least favorite because he felt he was out of ideas so soon after the second installment.

The box office disappointment of this movie is the reason why there was not another Chucky movie for seven years.
This was the first film in the series to use computers to aid in Chucky's puppetry - in order to perfect the lip-syncing.
The only film of the series where Andy is played by a different actor instead of Alex Vincent. The reason was that Andy had to age eight years, whereas Vincent was still only 9 years old when the film was made. Vincent would later return to the role in Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky.
Don Mancini initially wanted to introduce the concept of "multiple Chuckys" in the movie but due to budget constraints, the idea was eventually scrapped. Mancini later used this 26 years later for Cult of Chucky.
The last film to use Child's Play in its title until the remake.
The final film in the series to include the lore that Chucky must transfer his soul into the first person he revealed his true identity to.
Chucky always loses his right hand before he dies - in Child's Play, Andy's mom shoots it off. In Child's Play 2, Chucky tears it off to escape from a bar. In this movie, Andy cuts it off with a knife.
The only Child's Play film where no females die, all the victims are males.
The original Child's Play took place in November 1988, and Child's Play 2 in 1990 (a few months before Christmas). The third film takes place eight years later, in 1998 and then, Bride of Chucky, takes place in 1998 as well, only about one month later.
