Bunnyman
Boy was I surprised with Bunnyman. I went in thinking this was going to be a serious (I know, a killer in a bunny suit) slasher, but no. Once you accept it’s more comedy horror than horror and a lot of it will not make sense, then you can somewhat enjoy Bunnyman.

PLOT
We’re going to need a lot of therapy.-Rachel
A group of friends are being chased by a killer, dressed as an Easter Bunny.
MY THOUGHTS
The first kill in Bunnyman gives you a false sense that the rest of the kills were going to be just as good. Unfortunately not. The rest were ok, but they could have pushed it a little more. I would have given it a higher rating if they would have gotten a little more bloody or gorier.
The acting isn’t necessarily good but I’ve seen a lot worse in low budget slasher movies. We have Matthew Stiller (known for Fear House and Cold Feet) as the killer, Bunnyman. Cheryl Texiera (known for non-horror movies/tv) plays our final girl Rachel. And finally, Matthew Albrecht (known for non-horror movies/tv) plays John, Rachel’s boyfriend.
Six friends are driving and accidentally cut off a truck. This pisses off the driver and starts chasing the friends. Eventually they think they lose him when he shows back up he causes them to run off the road and they are stuck. He then takes off. One of the friends goes under the car to try and fix it when the truck returns and rams into the car, killing the guy. The truck leaves.
Now there’s a lot of walking and talking. Kind of boring. Two of the friends do come across Bunnyman and a dead body. He kills one of the friends and then chases the other one until he’s back with the group. Eventually the group finds a cabin, unfortunately it belongs to the Bunnyman and his “family”. He kills off more people until it’s down to our final girl Rachel and her boyfriend.
They try to get away but are captured. Rachel is tortured a little bit, but they manage to escape, driving off. But of course the Bunnyman catches up with them.
As far as the positives:
I like the look of grindhouse movies. And this one has all the little film disturbances.
Liked when the “lost reel” appeared and it showed the shower scene, then cut back to the movie. (This is only in the Grindhouse edition.)
And the Negatives:
The sound. It was horrible! There are times you can hear the actors just fine, and then other times the music is too loud and you can’t hear them.
I like the look, but they put too much of the grainy film in. And then sometimes forgot to add it.
Didn’t like that little montage of time travel and crap. It was horrible.
Overall, Bunnyman is a low budget horror movie that isn’t the greatest, and once I realized it’s more a comedy (some intentional and some not intentional) horror movie, I was able to enjoy it a little more. Unless you’re a glutton for punishment, or is desperate for an Easter horror movie, I would just pass on Bunnyman.
And now for your Forever Final Girl Exclusive…Did you know?:
Bunnyman is very lightly based on the Bunnyman urban legend of Northern Virginia.
Bunnyman is the first movie in the Bunnyman trilogy. Followed by Bunnyman Massacre and Bunnyman Vengeance.
In 2019 a heavily edited version of Bunnyman was released: Bunnyman Grindhouse edition.
There’s a scene, only in the Grindhouse edition, that has Diana Prince in a shower death scene
