Maniac Cop 3 Badge of Silence
At the beginning of this movie why does Bride of Chucky pop up in my head? Probably with the voodoo incantation at the start. Later in the movie, Bride of Frankenstein did. Though, I think it’s creepier in this movie.

PLOT
A Voodoo priest resurrects Matt Cordell, even though he has finally been laid to rest, to do his bidding. Meanwhile, a female cop is shot down during a robbery, and accused of shooting an innocent woman. Detective McKinney must stop Cordell as well as clear his friend's name.
MY THOUGHTS
The final movie has about twenty kills, only about half are from Cordell. Most kills are from shootings but we do get some unusual kills such as a defibrillator kill as well as an x-ray machine used in a kill. Not a lot of gore but about the last twenty minutes you get the shootout at the hospital and the final car chase that has some blood and Cordell on fire again.
The acting was fine again. I did like Robert Davi in this more than the previous. We get the ever sleazy Paul Gleason, Jackie Earle Haley as a junkie, Julius Harris as the Voodoo priest, as well as Robert Forster and Doug Savant. All a great supporting cast.
At least the movie shows the “do anything to get a story” plotline with the two journalists (one’s a cameraman and the other the journalist) airing their film but leaving out the part the cop was justified in shooting the woman. Luckily enough, McKinney finds a surveillance tape that shows what really happened.

Overall, I am glad I finally watched this whole franchise. Will I rewatch any of these again? Probably not. Unless I’m watching Bruce Campbell or Tom Atkins movies. If you are into action movies with horror in them, and like the seedy underbelly of 80’s New York City, this is the franchise for you.
And now for your Forever Final Girl Exclusive…Did you know?:
The film had a troubled production. Lustig’s rough cut of the fill was only 51 minutes. He refused to shoot additional scenes the producers wanted, so he quit. Joel Soisson took over for the rest of the movie.
The church exteriors are of the same church used in John Carpenter Prince of Darkness.
Ted Raimi plays the role of a news reporter. In the previous two Maniac Cop films this role was played by his brother Sam Raimi.
