Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus
Yes, I’m a glutton for punishment. I’m continuing my cheesy shark movie watch. This time it’s Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus. A movie that needed to be cheesier but tried not to be cheesy. But, at least we have a grown up Jaleel White (Urkel for those who remember Family Matters).

A megalodon and a giant crocosaurus do battle as a hunter and a navy scientist try to find a way to stop them from killing thousands.
MY THOUGHTS
I’m not going to attempt to do a kill count. You don’t see a lot of kills. There are deaths, just not bloody and not seen. The funny one is the mega shark swallows a nuclear sub whole. There is blood a few times, mainly from the helicopter crash. The CGI is pretty typical for these types of movies. Bad.
The acting is ok. Most notable is Jaleel White and Robert Picardo. Jaleel White (known for playing Urkel in Family Matters, but he’s had roles in lots of other tv shows as well. ) is Dr. Terry McCormick, a scientist trying to use noises to defeat the sharks. Robert Picardo (known for The Howling, 976-EVIL, The Burbs, and several Star Trek shows) plays Admiral Calvin, head of the group responsible for hunting the beasts down and killing them.
In the beginning of Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus, illegal diamond mining awakens the mighty Crocosaurus. Bounty hunter Nigel Putnum is able to tranquilize the beast and puts her on a ship.
Meanwhile, a navy ship carrying Dr. Terry McCormick, who studies sounds and how they affect sharks, is attacked by the Mega Shark. Everyone but Terry dies. He is taken to Admiral Calvin and decides to help try to stop the Mega Shark.
The ship carrying the Crocosaurus is attacked by the Mega Shark and sinks, letting loose the Crocosaurus. Only two people get off the ship, Nigel and his partner who walks away, quitting.
They soon discover that the places the Mega Shark attacks are the same places that Crocosaurus has laid eggs. Not only do they have to deal with a shark and a huge croc, but thousands of baby crocs as well.
The military try to trap both creatures in a canal but the military weapons are of no use. They hope to use a nuclear weapon on a sub, but the Mega Shark swallows it whole. But there is some good with the Mega Shark. It eats all of the hatching baby crocs.
Terry hatches a plan to drop the device he is working on near some underwater volcanic range to lure the beasts there, fighting each other. The volcano erupts, causing the nuclear bomb to go off in the shark, killing the Mega Shark, Crocosaurus, and any of the surviving baby crocs.
Overall, it’s not the worst shark movie. It’s not a great one either. If you have time to kill, and you like cheesy shark movies, then check it out. Otherwise, pass on it.
And now for your Forever Final Girl Exclusive…Did you know?:
The tagline for this film is lifted off of AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004).
To promote the film, The Asylum participated in a competition to make the next Doritos commercial for Super Bowl XLV. In the commercial, the megalodon attacks a naval fleet while Capt. Smalls (Michael Gaglio) asks if anything will satisfy its hunger. Then he hears a crunch and sees the janitor eating a bag of Doritos. In the next scene, a helicopter carries a giant Dorito chip over the ocean. The megalodon jumps and eats the chip before fleeing from the scene as the whole crew celebrates.
Crocosaurus attacks a building in Miami which has a massive Japanese poster for Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus on display.
