Bride of Chucky
Well, Bride of Chucky has a kicking soundtrack and is an improvement with the addition of Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany. My problem is that I didn’t really care for the main story of the teens running away from her uncle. I thought those parts were meh. I really only enjoyed the parts with Chucky and Tiffany.
Released: Oct 16, 1998

MY THOUGHTS
Barbie, eat your heart out.—Tiffany
There are 14 deaths (including Tiffany and Chucky’s deaths in the end). The kills are amped up with more blood. Several cool kills. I think John Ritter's death was cool. He got the “Pinhead” look then was killed by being stabbed by Chucky. David was slammed into by a semi truck so it was gory. And finally Russ and Diane are killed by mirror shards. Pretty bloody. A definite step up with the blood in this series.
As far as acting, it’s decent. I really like the addition of Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany. The chemistry between her and Brad Dourif was really good. Katherine Heigl and Nick Stabile as the suspicious teen couple were decent. John Ritter plays Jade’s (Katherine Heigl) corrupt uncle Chief Kincaid. Alex Arquette as a Gothic wanna be killer/boyfriend for Tiffany was funny and decent. And Kathy Najimy had a very small role as a hotel maid. So overall a decent cast.
There are two main stories for Bride of Chucky. One is Tiffany, Chucky’s ex-girlfriend, finds Chucky’s doll body and brings him back to life (as a doll). She is disappointed that he was never going to marry her so she decides to torture him by treating him like a baby. Chucky escapes and kills Tiffany, transferring her soul into a bride doll. They both now need to find the amulet that was buried with his human body to transfer their souls back into living bodies.
The second story is about two teens who love each other, but her uncle doesn’t approve of him so they decide to run away together. To make some money Jesse (Nick Stabile) is hired by Tiffany to transport two dolls to a graveyard. Not long after they pick up the dolls and leave, they become wanted after several bodies are found. This is where the two stories combine to find the amulet.

I wanted to take a quick break to let you know I found these great deals on Amazon for Child’s Play merchandise. I’ve applied to Amazon’s affiliate program and if I can get three purchases I will be accepted into the program. This will be of tremendous help with starting my small business.

Go ahead and shoot! I'll be back! I ALWAYS come back!--Chucky
I have to mention the soundtrack. I dug the music, which might be why I like this a little more than I should. If you’re a fan of old school rock then you probably would like this soundtrack. We obviously have a couple of songs from Rob Zombie/White Zombie, but we also have music from Coal Chamber, Monster Magnet, Judas Priest, and Static-X. We even have Call Me by Blondie!
I found the domestic scenes with Tiffany and Chucky. She’s cooking him everything he wants and he won’t even do the dishes which leads to a fight. They are so easily manipulated in that scene by the teens.
Overall, decent kills and a story that is cool when it’s about Tiffany and Chucky. The teens I didn’t find that interesting. Also, this is the movie that brings more humor than scares. Just like with the Freddy movies that became more comedy than horror in the later movies.
Now for the “Did you know…” section:
Most horror movie references are in the opening scene, in the evidence locker room that the police officer retrieves Chucky's remains from. We see Michael Myers mask, Freddy Krueger's glove, the chainsaw of Leatherface, Jason Voorhees hockey mask, a crate from Creepshow, and puppets from Puppetmaster. In another scene, a man has nails in his head, referencing Pinhead from Hellraiser.
Chucky twisting his head around all the way to look at Damien is an obvious reference to The Exorcist. Coincidentally Brad Dourif was in The Exorcist III as the Gemini killer who also makes a reference to Child's Play in that movie.
Two of Rob Zombie's songs are featured in the film. "Living Dead Girl" and "Thunderkiss 65". Brad Dourif would later play Sheriff Brackett in Rob Zombie's remake of 2007 Halloween and 2009 Halloween ll.
There is a character in the film named Damien Baylock. In The Omen, the satanic child is called Damien, while his evil nanny is called Mrs. Baylock.
The part where Chucky is playing with a Speak & Spell and types in 'bitch' when it asks him to spell 'woman' is a reference to the scene in Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III where Leatherface is playing an electronic word game and he keeps typing in 'food' when it's showing a picture of a clown.
The scene in which Tiffany is electrocuted in the bathtub was originally written as Maggie's death in the original Child's Play (1988).
Chucky kills Tiffany twice in this movie, first when she's a human and then near the end when she's a doll.
According to Jennifer Tilly, the doll sex scene was all improvised.
In doll form, Tiffany initially has black hair, but dyes it blonde to look like her human form. In real life, actress Jennifer Tilly has black hair, and dyed her hair to play a blonde.
A certain Bride of Chucky (1998) promotional poster is a parody of one of the Scream 2 (1997) posters.
Bride of Chucky is the most expensive Chucky/Child's Play Movie to this Date with a Budget of 25 Million Dollars.
First movie in the series to not have Child's Play in the title. This makes it one of the rare franchises to not have a consistent name in the title of each movie.
