Bloodstone Subspecies II

Personally, I normally don’t like it when a sequel changes a character's actor. I understand things change, but it normally takes me out of the story. In this case, I think Denice Duff improved the character of Michelle immensely.

MY THOUGHTS

For a vampire movie there’s really not many kills. Two humans and two vampires were killed. Though, as it’s a vampire movie there is enough blood flowing and squirting. Add in a mummified, ghoulish creature as Radu’s mother and it’s all good.

As far as acting goes, I think it’s better than the original. Like I mentioned before, Denice Duff (primarily from Subspecies franchise, Young and the Restless, and Days of Our Lives) replaced Laura Mae Tate as Michelle. I found that I enjoyed Denice Duff better as Michelle. Anders Hove returns as Radu. New characters include Rebecca (Melanie Shatner) as Michelle’s sister, and Mel (Kevin Spirtas) as the consulate agent helping Rebecca.

Bloodstone Subspecies II picks up right where the first movie leaves off. Radu kills Steffan and wants Michelle for himself. Michelle wakes up and tries to fight her newfound bloodlust. Unfortunately she calls her sister and she flies out to find out what is going on. Be warned though, this movie leaves off with a kind of cliff hanger. Most likely because Subspecies 2 and 3 were filmed back to back.

I wanted to take a quick break to let you know I found these great deals on Amazon for Subspecies merchandise. I’ve applied to Amazon’s affiliate program and if I can get three purchases I will be accepted into the program. This will be of tremendous help with starting my small business.

I liked the two bar scenes where Michelle is first following a guy, and the second time looking for a victim. The music kind of reminds of a Type O’ Negative or a Danzig kind of feel. The music is from a band called 13 Ghosts. Unfortunately all I found was two songs from this movie.

I did enjoy this movie. Maybe a little more than the original movie. It’s a pretty good vampire movie (for a Charles Band film). If you enjoyed the first, definitely watch this one. If nothing else, watch it for Denice Duff.
