Puppet Master 4

Puppet Master 4, a film that is not the worst in the series, it isn’t as good as the first couple. It felt like an incomplete or a sudden ending, but in all fairness 4 and 5 were filmed together, back to back. Let's hope the next part is good or better.

PLOT

A young scientist prodigy and his friends discover secrets of Bodega Bay. A trunk with puppets ends up helping them when they are attacked by demons.

MY THOUGHTS

There are about six kills with half being totems and the other humans. Though one of the “humans” was an asshole that caused his own death. You know the type. He does things for his own interests, not caring about anyone else. Then when things go south they try to bail on everyone. But he gets his in the end. Though I wish it was more painful. We see one of the scientists severed finger, and the asshole gets clawed to death. Not a lot of blood and no gore.

Gordon Currie as the “fun” scientist prodigy Rick who finds the puppets and must fight off demons because of it. He does a decent acting job. Chandra West as Susie, Rick’s girlfriend. I think Susie did a good job of actually taking care of herself and not being the typical, helpless girl. She’s smart and can hold her own.

We get more of the back story. Toulon, in the Decapitron, explains that the secret formula for bringing the puppets to life was stolen from Sutek, a demon. And now he’s trying to kill all who know about it, or are close to figuring it out. The surviving friends kill off the Totems that were sent but Sutek is still out there. Toulon’s spirit/essence is put into the Decapitron to help, and now Rick is the new Puppet Master. He must guard the secret from those who want to abuse the power and he has to protect the puppets.

I wanted to take a quick break to let you know I found these great deals on Amazon for Puppet Master  merchandise. I’ve applied to Amazon’s affiliate program and if I can get three purchases I will be accepted into the program. This will be of tremendous help with starting my small business.

============================================================

I know it’s not the best Puppet Master movie but we are not quite to the horrible movies yet so if you have about an hour or so to kill, watch it.

And now for your Forever Final Girl Exclusive…Did you know?:

  • The Torch puppet is seen on the cover of the VHS/DVD case, but is not seen in the movie.

  • Shot back to back with Puppet Master 5

  • The trailer uses music from Doctor Mordrid.

  • First appearance of Decapitron.
