Puppet Master 5 The Final Chapter

Puppet Master 5 is a continuation story from the 4th movie. We have the survivors from the previous movie in this one. I actually like it better than I remember the first time watching it. Maybe I like it for itself or I know just how bad the future movies in this franchise get. Either way I was entertained and fit into the Puppet Master universe.

PLOT

The puppets battle their most powerful enemy yet as they protect their new master from the demon God that created the Secret of Life.

MY THOUGHTS

There are five kills, with four being humans and the final being Sutekh the demon god. There’s more violence in Puppet Master 5 than in the 4th movie. I would say the most disturbing scene is when Lauren is in the bath moaning while Tunneler is drilling her (LOL) in the head. It’s a nightmare that Rick has in the beginning.

As far as actors/acting, we have the three survivors returning as well as Guy Rolfe as Toulon. As far as new people we have Ian Ogilvy as Dr. Jennings as another sleazy scientist who wants the puppets for himself. We also get Duane Whitaker as Scott, one of Jennings hired thieves. Duane Whitaker has been in From Dusk Till Dawn 2, Pulp Fiction, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, and many more horror movies. We also get Ron O’Neal playing a detective. We know O’Neal from Super Fly and When a Stranger Calls. And finally Clu Gulager from Return of the Living Dead 1 and 2, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2, and Feast 1-3 as a colleague of Dr. Jennings.

This time Sutekh sends his own Totem to go after the puppets and Rick. This Totem is stronger and more powerful than the other Totem’s. Laura, while in a coma induced state, has visions of Sutekh and warns Rick through his computer at Bodega Bay. Fortunately for them all, the Decapitron returns to life to help defeat Sutekh and Rick finally accepts his responsibility as the new puppet master.

I wanted to take a quick break to let you know I found these great deals on Amazon for Puppet Master merchandise. I’ve applied to Amazon’s affiliate program and if I can get three purchases I will be accepted into the program. This will be of tremendous help with starting my small business.

Puppet Master 5 continues the story from the 4th movie. Overall not the best storyline but not actually that bad. At least there’s a cohesive story versus just clips from previous movies. If you watch the 4th, you should watch this one too. But then again, I’m a completionist so even if it’s bad I’ll still watch it.

And now for your Forever Final Girl Exclusive…Did you know?:

  • A day of filming was lost due to the crew walking out, as their paychecks had collectively bounced.

  • David Allen's final involvement in a Puppet Master film.

  • Last Puppet Master entry to be released on video by Paramount Pictures.

  • Blade's body in this entry is actually a re-modified version of Tunneler's autopsy body from Puppet Master 2.

  • The film's trailer reuses music from Demonic Toys.
